The problem
VOYCE Whakarongo Mai advocates for children and young people in care across Aotearoa. Their site carries a lot of content, and that content changes often.
It was running on WordPress with Elementor Pro. For an organisation publishing at that volume, the page builder meant two costs paid every day. Pages loaded slowly for the people who needed them, and the team fought the editor every time they wanted to publish.
A page builder also hands editors freedom they did not ask for and takes away the consistency they did. Every new page was a chance for the design to drift.
What we built
A full migration to SilverStripe 6, with the design system holding the line rather than the editor.
Content migration from the WordPress REST API
Custom migration scripts pulled every post, page and media item across, preserving URLs so nothing that was already ranking lost its address.
A Figma linked design system
Type scale, spacing, colour and components defined once in Figma and mirrored in code, so what gets designed is what gets built.
Structured content blocks
Each section of their site became a block the team can add, reorder and edit. The layout options are the ones the design system allows, and no others.
Editing inside the system, not around it
Their team publishes without touching layout controls. Pages stay consistent because consistency is the default, not a rule someone has to remember.
We are absolutely thrilled with our new website and couldn't be happier with the final result. The design is modern, engaging, and perfectly reflects our brand, while the navigation is intuitive and user-friendly for both our team and our audience.
Priscilla was fantastic to work with throughout the entire project. She quickly understood our brand, our goals, and the unique challenges we were facing, and was able to make excellent progress without requiring large amounts of input or direction from us. Her ability to take ideas and turn them into practical, effective solutions made the process seamless and stress-free.
What really stood out was Priscilla's solution-focused approach and genuine commitment to helping us succeed. She not only delivered an exceptional website but also took the time to ensure we felt confident maintaining and updating it ourselves. Her expertise, responsiveness, and collaborative style made her an absolute pleasure to work with.
We would highly recommend Priscilla to anyone looking for a talented web designer and developer who truly listens, understands their clients, and delivers outstanding results.
Gabriella Guy Head of Insights and Impact
A faster, more maintainable site with a proper design system behind it, and one their non-technical team can run day to day.
Removing the page builder removed the weight it carried, so pages load on the connections their audience actually has. The design cannot drift page by page, because the blocks only offer choices the system already approved. Future changes happen in one place rather than page by page.
